— About —
A.D. Schmidt is a filmmaker based in Austin, TX.
He first fell in love with making movies as a student at Lake Travis High School. His senior year, at the prompting of his media production teacher, he submitted a film to a small local festival judged by Richard Linklater. His film screened, and as A.D. watched the audience react to his work, he was hooked.
A.D. then took his talents to the deep south - the University of Alabama. There, he developed an eye for cinematography. A.D. bought his first DSLR and lenses, and used whoever he could find as actors - often roommates and friends. Those productions slowly grew in scope, and he began winning awards. His college career culminated with the creation of Brewing, a film made in consultation with Josh Penn and Dan Janvey - the producers of Beasts of the Southern Wild. Brewing made it’s premiere at the 2015 Sidewalk Film Festival in Birmingham, Alabama.
After graduation, A.D. returned to Austin with a determination to explore the human condition through small, personal films. His vision is simple; share human experiences, challenge audiences and make an impact.
